The award was presented to Tukur during the school’s 2026 Speech and Prize Giving Day, organised by Damare Nursery and Primary School under the Yola South Local Education Authority in Adamawa State.
According to the citation on the award, Tukur was recognised for his contributions to community services, leadership, capacity building and educational development in the society. The honour also acknowledged his role as a journalist and his efforts towards using the media to promote issues affecting communities.
Speaking on the recognition, Tukur expressed appreciation to the management, teachers, parents and pupils of Damare Nursery and Primary School for considering him worthy of the honour.
He said the recognition would further encourage him to continue supporting initiatives that contribute to the development of education and society, while pledging to use his position in the media to amplify issues that promote positive change.
The award adds to Tukur’s profile as a journalist and media executive, with Voice of Arewa serving as a platform for news, public-interest reporting and stories focused on communities across Northern Nigeria.
