...The monarch, Hama Batta makes a mark, commended beyond the shores

HRH Hama Batta, Homun Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke, exhibiting religious tolerance, championing unity and peaceful coexistence in the Batta Chiefdom, Demsa local government area of Adamawa State as a host, has on Wednesday inaugurated the Committee with the sole responsibility for organising the 39th state Quranic Recitation Competition.
Speaking during the Inauguration at his palace, the exemplary monarch said his chiefdom cherished freedom of religion and his leadership has been devoid of ethonoreligious discrimination; "both Christians and Muslims are my subjects, hence my readiness to host the Quranic Recitation Competition.
"I did the selection of the credible and capable people, even without their consent into the committee led by Alhaji Aliyu Ismaila Numan, the Turakin Batta and I do know that they will not disappoint me.
"The Adamawa State 39th Qur'anic Recitation Competition to be held in my chiefdom, under my watch, will in God's name, be the most remarkable.
"I commend the initiative and honour the resolve, respecting my office as a leader to host this important event that will give credible recognition of the chiefdom, the throne and the people across the globe".
Alhaji Aliyu Ismaila Numan, the Turakin Batta, commended the monarch for not only accepting to host the competition but also finding him and the committee members worthy of representing him in the task.
Turakin Batta stressed that as the chairman steering committee, he would do everything possible to ensure that Hama Batta is well represented, in ensuring the success of the programme.
The chairman and traditional title holder urged the members of various subcommittees to put in their best to ensure that the Demsa 2024 is acknowledged as the best Qur'anic recitation competition ever organised in the state.
The 39th edition of the Adamawa State Quranic Recitation Competition is scheduled to be held in Demsa from 24th to 30th November 2024.
Participants from the 21 local government areas of Adamawa state are expected to compete during the event.
Demsa LGA has been participating in both the state and National Competition since 1989.
Members of Steering Committee include Alhaji Aliyu Ismaila Numan, (Retired Federal Perm Sec Defence Ministry, Turakin Bata) - Chairman, Dr Tasiu Idi - Secretary
Other Chairmen of Subcommittees include, Hon Felix Tangwami (Commissioner of Health), Hon Akham Jalo (Council Chairman), Prof Bello Idi, Engr Aminu Ahmad Yaro and Alh Lamido Kani among others.
