MAUTH Cooperative Society Isn't Discriminatory, Considers All Cadres

...Embarks on housing scheme for members, other promising initiatives…

...We're not denied monetary loans when we apply and have fulfilled the requirements - Junior Staff

...We relate with members based on individual contributions, in the spirit of equity and equality - Chairman

Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, MAUTH Yola, Adamawa state Nigeria, carries all her members along irrespective of cadre, the chairman, Mr Lazarus Zirra assured.

"I've not seen your request for land allocation," Zirra kindly told me.

"I still consider myself a new member who's joined in barely one year, I feel the old members should be considered first," I humbly responded.

Zirra, who took over the leadership of the multipurpose cooperative society barely one year, encouraged me to get at least a plot of land being advertised, confirming to me that the plots would be sufficient for allocation to all qualified interested members.

Zirra explained that the financially embarrassed members who seek online loans referred to as either PAYDAY LOANS or SHARP SHARP LOANS that endanger their salaries, would not benefit from not just the land allocation scheme but also monetary loans and other promising packages.

The payment of plots of land, when allocated, would be for the period of two years to be deducted from the monthly salary; the N70,000 newly approved minimum wage is a positive development to the scheme as 50 by 100 plot of land attracts N500,000, I.e. at most N21,000 only, to be deducted per month.

Members expressed satisfaction with the leadership of the cooperative society, the innovative packages introduced and the services rendered rather promptly, saying, their withdrawals from savings have not been challenged by undue delays.

"Whenever we apply for a loan, we are pleased to be favoured, provided that we've fulfilled the conditions necessary for it, without the frustrating constraint that we are junior cadre; we also benefit from the profits gained in the transactions based on our shares," one of the staff confirmed.

I particularly am impressed, when though at the eleventh hour, I forwarded my request for withdrawals of a certain amount from my savings, considering the project worthy, requiring financing.

Mr Zirra said that multipurpose cooperative society would be willing to provide another package additional to the amount withdrawn from my savings to be able to effectively and efficiently accomplish my worthy mission based on my interest and requests.

What an honest expression of empathy! I exclaimed. I thanked him for the concern, assuring that what was requested from the savings would be managed to implement the project.

The unintended promotion made me to instantly increase my savings, in addition to requesting for the the plot of land encouraged by the caring and concerned chairman.

The selfless allocation of land to members is indeed commendable; the leadership would have freely allocated the land to themselves without members knowing and approving the transaction but decided otherwise.

"It is our duty to serve all members with fairness in consideration of equality and equity. The fact that one is a junior staff doesn't give us the ground to treat their requests unfairly, unless defaulted.

"Of course, we offer cash loans to every staff member based on one's savings rather than being selective," Zirra assured, adding that the leadership is working earnestly towards holding the annual general meeting of the society anytime soon.
