We won't allow Niger's Military in power for 3years - Ecowas

s said that it will not accept the statement made by the Coup leader of Niger, that he will return the country to the path of democracy within the next three years.

In a statement issued by the military leader, General Abdourahmane Tchiani on Saturday evening, he said that he will transit power to civilians within three years.

In his interview with the BBC, the commissioner for political affairs, security and peace assurance of Ecowas, Abdel-Fatau Musa, said that he thinks the announcement made by General Tchiani is a strategy to dialogue need.

He added that it should be said that Niger's military leaders should focus on fighting terrorists, instead of governing the country.

The regional bloc demands that the army return the deposed president to power without wasting time.

Ecowas also threatened to use military force to return the ousted president Mohamed Bazoum.

However, in his announcement, on Saturday, General Tchiani warned that the use of military force could disrupt the peace of the West African region.
