EXCLUSIVE: DG SSS set to resign as Tinubu names replacement

The director-general of the State Security Service, Yusuf Bichi, has prepared to tender his resignation to President Bola Tinubu on Monday.

Insiders at the Yellow House told DAILY NIGERIAN that the outgoing DG returned to the office this afternoon and announced the development to his close aides.

Sources said the president may name a replacement from one of the serving assistant directors.

Mr Bichi was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari on September 14, 2018 to replace Matthew Seiyefa, who served in acting capacity.

On Saturday, his National Intelligence Agency, counterpart, Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, tendered his resignation to the president.
